NHL news: Golden Knights hit home ice

The Vegas Golden Knights will finally hit home ice tonight against the Arizona Coyotes. T-Mobile Arena will focus more on togetherness, pride and #VegasStrong, than the originally planned flash and glitz.

That’s because nine days ago the worst mass shooting in American history happened at the Route 91 Harvest Festival outside the Mandalay Bay Hotel. Fifty-eight people were gunned down by Steven Paddock just down the Strip from the Golden Knights home arena.

A ceremony will be held prior to the game to honor the victims and first responders of the tragedy and a moment of silence will take place in remembrance of those lost.

As for the game itself, the Golden Knights will look to move to 3-0. They won their first two games in dramatic fashion with a 2-1 win against the Dallas Stars on Friday, and a 2-1 overtime win at Arizona Saturday.
