Breaking NHL news: Boyle returns to practice

Breaking NHL news: Brian Boyle has returned to practice for the New Jersey Devils. This is an update to a story that we covered here last month.

The newly acquired center was cleared for practice on Saturday and joined his teammates Sunday for the first time since he announced he was diagnosed with chronic myeloid leukemia on September 19.

CML is a cancer of the bone marrow.

The veteran signed a two-year, $5.5 million contract in July. Boyle has played for the Los Angeles KingsNew York Rangers, Tampa Bay Lightning and Toronto Maple Leafs during his 10-year career.
