Breaking NHL news: Parise to miss 8-10 weeks following surgery

Breaking NHL news: Zach Parise will miss the next 8-10 weeks as he recuperates from back surgery. According to the Minnesota Wild, the winger underwent surgery Tuesday and has potential return date towards the end of 2017.

Parise first injured his back in early 2016 and has been dealing with a herniated disk ever since. He has yet to see action this season.

Parise is in the sixth year of a 13-year deal he signed in 2012. Parise’s $98 million contract will keep him in Minnesota until 2025.

The Wild have struggled with injuries so far this season. In addition to Parise, the Wild have had Charlie Coyle, Nino Niederreiter, Mikael Granlund and Marcus Foligno all miss time.
